Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted as a blind version, either in pdf (Adobe Reader) or Latex format, and must be written in English or Portuguese. Accepted papers written in Portuguese must be translated into English by the authors before publication. The submission of a paper implies that its contents represent original and unpublished work and that it has not been submitted elsewhere. Manuscripts are always refereed and may be rejected, returned for revisions or accepted.
  • The title page of the blind version must contain the title of the manuscript, an abstract with no more than 150 words, keywords (maximum of 5) and JEL codes. When building this version in Adobe Acrobat Reader (*.pdf), the author(s) should click on File, Document Properties, and Description, and remove all indications of authorship, names of institutions, or e-mail addresses.
  • Manuscripts should be typed with double line spacing on an A4 size paper, using a font size of 10 or 12.
  • Tables should be typed as part of the text, but in such a way as to avoid confusion with text. Extra space should be left above and below the table. Tables, including title, legend or number, should fit within the standard typing area and should not run over to the next page. Graphs and other numbered figures should be separate from the text, sized to fit within the width and height of the typed pages and be ready for printing.
  • Figures and graphs should be provided in black and white, and the legends to the figures and fonts should be included in the original file, preferably in EPS format. If any other type of program was used, the files should be sent in the original program they were made in (Microsoft Excel, Power Point, etc).
  • References should be indicated in the text by the author's name and the year of publication in parentheses. All references should then be collected in alphabetical order at the end of the manuscript.
  • Any acknowledgements, including citations to supporting grants and contracts, should be typed as text and placed before the references at the end of the manuscript.
