Abstract

Never, in Brazil, a social mouvement arrived to consolidate itself as the Brazilian landless mouvement, spread all over the country. During the 90's, Brazil could watch the landless phenomenon. The purpose of this work is to understand, from an urban point of vew, how they became part of the daily news in Brazil. Bourdieu's theories about the constant struggle for symbolic power in society will help us to think how the changes occurred. To understand the 90's, we will go back to the 80's, when everything has begun. Our main source are newspapers and magazines articles (more or less 300 of them). The history of the landless mouvement is seing from the media's point of vew.
