Symbolic Changes: discursive analyze of identity and spatial transformations in a fair

Abstract

This work bases on Discourse Analysis (DA) (FIORIN, 1988), and it intends to analyze the identity transformation of Feira de Arte, Artesanato e Produtores de Variedades de Belo Horizonte. We analyze a longitudinal period of 36 years that em-braces whole history’s fair. It was observed that the changes are involved as such in this event identity as on its physical and symbolic spatial occupation. Based on collect of documents in Public City Archive of Belo Horizonte, on consult of journals, and based on interviews with the fair managers, we verified the transformation of the fair’s identity. In historic reconstruction of this organization we can observe there is a big parcours sémantique that we called: identity transfor-mation, which in its turn is structured on two sub-conjuncts: a) the identity formation; and b) the identity cleave. At least, discourses colleted show us a huge identity transformation: a fair that was created under the shape of expression of an artistic and cultural movement, which, with the incorporation of news subjectivities, and the physical and symbolic spatial (re)appropriation it became a integrated space to the logical of "consumption market".
