Critical conscience with idealistic science: paradoxes of the sociological reduction in the phenomenology of Guerreiro Ramos

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to work out a critical investigation of Guerreiro Ramos conception in the organizational studies from its best known, consulted and referred contributions, aiming to understand his bedding and entailing, with the objective of defending the thesis that the critical analysis of Guerreiro Ramos do not authorize us to include him or to consider him as an adherent researcher to the Critical Theory. The critical positions of Guerreiro Ramos, as it will be shown, are based especially in his reflections about Husserl’s phenomenology. To defend the thesis proposed, the analysis will be carried out based on the Critical Theory point of view. This study is organized in three parts. In the first one, it will deal with the conceptual contours of what one understands as Critical Theory and phenomenology. In the second part, it will display the proposal of the sociological reduction formulated by Guerreiro Ramos, added to his critique of Brazilian Sociology and the proposal of a new science of organizations. In the third part, a critical and objective analysis of the conception of Guerreiro Ramos will be done, based on a methodological position that integrates the meaning of the mentioned referenced books here criticized in the facts, taking into consideration the meaning of his intellectual production and the relation with his existential situation.
