The RAE Code of Ethics outlines the basic principles guiding the conduct of all members and partners involved in the scientific certification and publication process—authors, reviewers, editors, council and editorial board members, copy editors, translators, editorial staff, etc. It also presents the Policies and Procedures for Violations of the Code of Ethics and Ethical Misconduct.

Articles submitted for publication in RAE undergo a similarity check using the internationally recognized professional platform iThenticate - Similarity Check, operated by Crossref, with the Turnitin system for detecting similarities. This verification takes place before the desk review and in all subsequent versions submitted after the format analysis. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for taking the necessary actions to combat plagiarism and ethical misconduct, in alignment with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

To be a part and to play any role in the process of scientific certification and the publication of RAE-Revista de Administração de Empresas, one must agree to the principles of this Code of Ethics, as listed below, as well as be recognized for their faultless conduct.

 

Ethical Conduct - Authors

- Guarantee the integrity of the data presented in their article.

-  Confirm the authenticity and originality of their article.

- Certify that their article contains appropriate citations and properly identifies third party source material.

- State that their article does not contain any slanderous or defamatory statements and does not infringe on any third party intellectual property, commercial or industrial rights.

- Guarantee that their article is not undergoing an evaluation process at another periodical.

- Declare any potential conflicts of interest that may be caused by their article. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

- Will immediately notify the editor if any errors are identified in the article and will contribute to their immediate correction, whether before publication and/or in connection with the publication of errata, when the error is identified after publication.

- The author who submits the article declares that all the authors who have signed the work to be published have made effective contributions to its creation and preparation. RAE recommends alignment with the authorship criteria of CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).

- Certify that this is the correct journal to publish their article.

- Certify that the content and format of their article is appropriate for the selected journal.

- Ensure that when the article involves procedures with human subjects or sensitive data under the LGPD (General Data Protection Law), the authors must attach a declaration of approval from the ethics committee of the institution responsible for approving the research.

Editor-in-Chief

- States that ethical conduct has been followed in all the processes involving the submission, double blind review process and the publication of articles.

- Guarantees integrity, impartiality, confidentiality and transparency in the scientific certification process for the articles submitted for publication.

- Guarantees quality, originality, rigor, coherence, and diversity of thought in the works approved for publication.

- Guarantees ethical conduct, integrity, impartiality, transparency and agility in communicating with the various actors involved in the submission, evaluation and publication processes.

- Assures that the periodical will contribute to the advancement of knowledge.

- Vouches for the periodical’s viability and development together with the scientific, academic and business communities.

- Will make every effort to constantly improve the journal.

- Will establish and manage conflict of interest policies for the various actors who participate in the scientific certification and publication process. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

- Will define and put in place preventive policies and sanctions in situations involving bad ethical conduct.

 

Members of the Editorial Board

- Will reinforce, together with academic scientific community, the practice of ethical conduct in all the journal processes involving the submission, double blind review and publication of articles.

- Will not use, under any circumstances, privileged information to which they have access to as members of the Editorial Board.

- Will alert the editor-in-chief about possible conflicts of interest that could prejudice the integrity of their actions as members of the journal’s Editorial Board. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

 

Members of the Editorial Staff

- State that ethical conduct has been followed in all the processes involving the submission, double blind review and publication of articles.

- Guarantee a high standard of ethical conduct, integrity, impartiality, transparency and agility in communicating with the various actors involved in the submission, evaluation and publication processes.

- Will immediately alert their immediate manager about possible conflicts of interest that could prejudice the integrity of their actions as members of the journal’s Editorial Staff. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

 

Members of the Scientific Editorial Board

- State that ethical conduct has been followed in all the processes involving the review and scientific certification of articles submitted for publication.

- Will alert the editor-in-chief about similar published or submitted works and/or any other information relevant to adhering to this publication’s ethical standards.

- Assure confidentiality, impartiality and integrity in evaluating the article.

- Will not use, under any circumstances, privileged information that they have access to as members of the Scientific Editorial Board.

- Will suggest suitable active reviewers with experience directly related to the specific area of the article submitted for publication.

- State that they will contribute effectively to the improvement of the paper, stimulating reviewers to review the work critically, offering suggestions for improvement and complementing their respective reviews.

- Agree to complete the evaluation in the timeframe agreed to with the editor.

- Will alert the editor-in-chief about any possible conflicts of interest that would prejudice the integrity of the evaluation process. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

 

Ad hoc reviewers

- Will position themselves as references in terms of ethical conduct and integrity.

Assure confidentiality, impartiality and integrity in evaluating the article.

- Will not use, under any circumstances, privileged information to which they have had access as a reviewer.

- Promise to contribute to the effective improvement of the paper, with critical and constructive reviews.

- Agree to complete the evaluation within the timeframe agreed to with the editor.

- Will alert the editor about any possible conflicts of interest that could prejudice the integrity of the evaluation process. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

- Will alert the editor about any similar published or submitted works.

RAE (The Publisher)

- Assures that the editor-in-chief, members of the editorial staff, the editorial board, the scientific editorial board, and ad hoc reviewers are aware of their roles as promoters, defenders and followers of the RAE Code of Ethics to which they must adhere.

- Assures ethical conduct in all of the periodical processes involving submission, double blind reviews and publication.

- Assures integrity, impartiality, confidentiality and transparency in the scientific certification process for the articles submitted for publication.

- Assures ethical conduct, integrity, impartiality, transparency and agility in communicating with the various actors involved in the processes of submitting, evaluating and publishing articles.

- Will establish and manage policies regarding conflicts of interest among the many actors who participate in the periodical’s scientific certification and publication processes. A conflict of interest is any personal, intellectual, commercial, political, academic or financial issue. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

- Will define and put into practice policies to prevent and institute sanctions in cases of bad ethical conduct.

- Protects and preserves intellectual property rights.

- Constantly strengthens the editorial independence of every periodical.

 

RAE in partnership with the editor-in-chief

- Assists the editor-in-chief in constantly improving the journal’s editorial quality and originality as well as scientific rigor.

- Will improve the viability and development of the periodical together with the scientific, academic and business communities.

- Will make every effort to constantly improve the journal.

- Will define and put into practice policies to prevent and institute sanctions in cases of bad ethical conduct. 

 

Intellectual property

RAE  commits itself to contributing to the protection of authors’ intellectual property rights. This is why it:

- Uses the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY) for all published texts, except where there are indications of specific authors’ and sponsorship rights;

- Assures the author of the moral and use rights of his article;

- Uses similarity detection software;

- Recommends alignment with the authorship criteria of CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy);

- Adopts actions to combat plagiarism and bad ethical conduct in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors' responsibility

The content of signed articles is the sole responsibility of the authors. The authors guarantee that the manuscript does not contain any copyright infringement or copyright of third parties, and that the article has not been submitted for publication in any other journal.

Processes regarding copyright policy and best practices for articles published in RAE are also described in the Participation Rules, which authors must read and accept when submitting a contribution to the journal.
