In search of new ways to organization theory
Main Article Content
Abstract
The contribution of social sciences to the development of equitable societies and to the quality of human life has been under severe attack on the part of authors identified as critical theorists. This article addresses some of the weaknesses of the social sciences in general and particularly of the theories of organization from a critical perspective. This is done as a prologue to the introduction of two related approaches: Silverman's action frame of reference and the dialectical approach to organizations. Both approaches aim at recovering the relevance of organizational theories while implying a strong commitment to the improvement of the quality of life.
The author reflects on the possibilities of incorporating these new approaches to the practice of administration. Last, some recent contributions in the literature bearing on the new approaches are reviewed.Downloads
