Overview and future trends of agricultural products certification in Brazil

Abstract
This paper presents an outlook of the process of agricultural products certification in Brazil and the implications for the sectors involved (farmers, traders/industries and consumers). First, basic concepts of the certification process are presented in an historical perspective. Then, some features of the Brazilian and international regulations are analyzed. Finaly, the operational aspects and the costs of the process are discussed.
