Abstract
Os debates que vêm sendo realizados no Congresso Constituinte sobre a reforma fiscal têm confirmado a existência de várias correntes com visões marcadamente distintas em relação a sua necessidade, profundidade e direção. Os setores da sociedade que são beneficiados pela atual estrutura, compreensivelmente, têm sido contrários à sua modificação. Mas os que a advogam apresentam duas visões que divergem profundamente em relação à sua abrangência. Uma pontifica que pequenos ajustes seriam suficientes para fazer uma correção de rota do sistema, ao depurarem-se as distorções que lhe foram introduzidas após a reforma de 1966.
