Abstract
Under a very suggestive tide and using a language accessible enough, the author analyzes how evolved the attitude towards the administrative concept - the span of control or administrative range - starting from Graicunas and Ian Hamilton's mathematic criteria.
To attain more effectively his objectives, Prof. Bergamini describes results of a research held at Sears Roebuck Co., on the effects for the organization of a reduction in hierarchical levels, mentioning also the research conducted in an optic similar to Sears' and under the supervision of the AMA (American Management Association).
