Production restructuring process from the neoliberal project perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents a new reading of the Brazilian state production restructuring process in the 1980s and 90s, from the neoliberal project perspective. First, it discusses the concept of the Brazilian state reform project based on the tactic onservatism of the Figueiredo and Sarney governments and the widening of the model during the 1990s. It is believed that the measures
taken in the 1980s, even though timid and apparently naïve, had a decisive role in preparing the country for the deeper transformations that took place in the 1990s. The article then debates the country’s perspectives considering that this model has entailed an unheard-of social depatrimonialization process. Considering this scenario, it asks: who will be responsible for reaching the goal of meeting society’s well-being needs?
