Abstract

This paper discusses the critical importance of interdependence and the use of teamwork for the development of human values, human organizations and the sustainable management of the Earth. It gives priority to the cultivation and nourishment of this spirit, in relation to TQM, reengineering, strategic management, and other managerial tools. Although it does not deny the practical need for hierarchy, specialization and discipline, is argues that the emphasis on those characteristics has aggravated the fragmentation
within the organizations, acting against interdependent work, reducing the synergy and, consequently, the effectiveness in reaching goals.
